Girl's Weekend & Some Fun!

Just a fraction of a second here to wish all a great weekend! Five mommies and I are headed to Charleston for the 10K Cooper River Bridge Run this weekend for some girl time! I can't wait to share and to catch up with you when I return. In the meantime, a couple of fun things to share....

Teagan and I made this cute little Easter tree with sand we had on hand to refill her sandbox, leftover burlap and jute ribbon plus adorable wooden carrots from the dollar store! She had to have several goes at decorating it because she had so much fun! This was a great project while Isla napped yesterday.

We had so much fun at Liam's first birthday party. This cracked me up because Isla so didn't want to miss a second of the party!

Easter fun from Nana Mo & Poppy brought smiles!

Easter Burlap Banner and Hurricanes

I was so wrapped up in Valentines and St. Patrick's Day that Easter decor (or lack of) has caught me by surprise. I made a quickie burlap banner this year and love it for its simplicity.

In addition to bright eggs I added wooden crosses. Easter reminds us of the wonderful hope and salvation Jesus gave us when he died for our sins. In this season of rebirth and new possibilities I hope you will reach out to me if I can answer any questions you have about Jesus. He wants you to know Him, right now and just as you are. Leave a comment if you would like to chat or email  teaganstravels@yahoo.com. I would love to share His truth with you and how He has blessed my life.

The materials were all inexpensive: a yard of burlap, jute ribbon, scrap book paper I had hanging about, paint and wooden crosses. I used a template from Creations by Kara's Easter banner that made this super easy!

I love my banner and hurricanes that are flanking it on my mantel. Please share more of your Easter decor on my Destination: Inspiration linky party going on now! And do tell what you and your family are doing for Easter this year! I'd love to hear!

Have a great Wednesday!

Easy Easter Wreath Tutorial!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We were busy with a special first birthday party for our friend's baby Liam, decorating for Easter, going to church and getting out in the beautiful weather we've had here. I can't wait to share pictures this week!

In the meantime, I made this quick and easy wreath over the weekend and love the way it turned out so bright and fluffy! The ribbon has a touch of sparkle and I love the bright colors in the ribbon. Hobby Lobby has tons of new spring ribbon choices this season!

I always love a rundown on how much a project costs and where to find the supplies so here's my scoop:

I bought the wreath for $1 at Dollar Tree, ribbon from Hobby Lobby for $4, the wooden cross (which I plan to paint a soft gold) was part of a set from Hobby Lobby that included six crosses for $2. I haven't added it yet because I ran out of paint but think it will be pretty on the left side above the two eggs. The spring ribbon was around $5 for four yards so I am using the rest on my mantel. And the eggs were in my craft closet from a floral arrangement I received last Easter!

The project is easy-schemeasy. Just take your ribbon and wrap, wrap, wrap. Here I show how I wrapped the ribbon loosely then scrunched it down in a bunch. This seemed to produce the fluffiest effect. Next, add your embellishments and ribbon. Voila! An easy Easter wreath for just a few dollars.

I was originally inspired by a lovely wreath created by duitang.com that I saw on Pinterest.  I'd hoped to include a picture but am having trouble with the image. Please do go to this site and see the cute original. This is such an easy, fun wreath! I hope you will give it a try!

Stay tuned for pictures from Liam's 1st birthday party, an Easter craft play date, a burlap Easter banner tutorial and tonight's Destination: Inspiration Tuesday crafty linky up!

Friday Five: Facts About Niemann-Pick's Disease

In Kaitlyn's Memory

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14: 27

I had planned an Easter themed Friday Five today but we received sad news that a precious girl we've been praying for passed away on Thursday. Today's Friday Five is dedicated in Kaitlyn's honor to help spread awareness of the disease she had. She was a sweet, brave little girl and her short life touched so many of us.

Kaitlyn's Korner is an amazing blog where her parents captured their family's life since she  was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Disease (Type A), a rare, fatal genetic disease with no cure when she was just nine months old.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT NIEMANN-PICK DISEASE
1. Niemann-Pick Disease is a lysosomal storage disease that affects metabolism and is caused by genetic mutations. In order for a child to have Niemann-Pick Disease, both parents must be carriers of a genetic mutation causing Niemann-Pick.

2. There are three types of Niemann-Pick Disease, Types A, B and C. Kaitlyn had Niemann-Pick Disease, Type A, the most severe of the three types.

3. Those with Type A typically live to be only 2 to 4 years of age.

4. There are approximately 1,200 cases of type A and B worldwide with the majority being Type B.

5. There is currently no treatment or cure for the disease.

When our good friend's Dave and Shanna went through their scare with Caleb's illness which sounded very similar, we began to truly understand the impact this disease has on a child and his/her loved ones. Since then they have been in our prayers and at our weekly bible study we would often give each other status updates on her condition and lift them up in prayer. Our hearts go out to the Bourgeault family and we pray that the love of those around them and the love of God, comfort them in the days ahead.

If you have a moment, please add them to your prayers too and consider donating to the Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation in memory of Kaitlyn Bourgeault, Type A. Click here to donate.

God's blessings on you and your family this weekend. If you have a special prayer request please leave a comment below or email me at teaganstravels@yahoo.com

Wearing o' The Green: St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

What did you and your family get up to for St. Patrick's Day weekend? We had an awesome weekend full of a family date, parade, lunch at a friend's house and dinner with another group of friends at our house, church and a special visit from cousin Kade! I think we are all still exhausted but happy out! Here are our favorite pictures from the festivities.

Our parade is amazing and Teagan had lots of fun!

Teagan, Isla and Daddy watch on!

I took lots of pictures of baby Landon for his mommy, Leah who wasn't at the parade. Here's Isla flirting with him!

My Irish baby is eleven months old today!

She has four teeth coming in and is still the sweetest little thing.

Hi Landon!

Teagan takes a break!

Our babies are starting to get sleepy.....

...very sleepy! Mom's shoulder is a great place to snuggle....

After the parade we had lunch at Paul, Jackie, Molly and Bethany's house!

My little leprechaun loved checking out all their toys!

Krissy and Brecken!

Molly showing Brian that she too is a Manchester United fan! Good choice, Molly!

I could scoop up little Bethany who is hanging out here with her Daddy!

I love this picture! It is so Jackie! Always bubbly, always happy. Saying hello to Isla!

They are such wonderful cooks and hosts. The kids loved this yummy leprechaun treat!

D-lish bread!

Decorations galore! It's cool that they used the clover growing in their garden for this craft!

I think Teagan had three of these when I wasn't looking. I kept finding her with pops in her hand!

Corn beef and cabbage fare was amazing!

At the end of the party she remembered she hadn't turned on her cool earring lights!
Thanks for an amazing lunch, Jackie and Paul! We had such a great time!

That night we picked up cousin Kade for a sleepover and had our friends, The C family over for bangers & mash.

Lonnie, Landon and Jennifer

Madeline and Jennifer

We had such a great time with them, as usual! Big love for this family!

Finally, we had a little visit with Dave, Shanna, Caleb and Liam over the weekend.

Liam is going to be ONE YEAR OLD this week! I can't believe how fast the past year has flown by. We so look forward to celebrating with them.

Precious boy! I adore holding this baby.

It has been so warm here that I broke out the summer outfit from Japan that my friend Michiko gave Isla. Isn't it beautiful with her red hair?

Oh somebody is going to get a Liam kiss!

Bye baby boy! See you this weekend!

After all the festivities Teagan fell asleep going to our family dinner date. Brian took us to the most amazing restaurant. They had duck confit...on the kids menu. I was really nervous taking our little munchkins in. But true to their word, they were family friendly and we had the best time!

I hope you have a great day where you are!
